When you use CoParentSplit, we collect information you provide directly: your email address, display name, children's names and birth years, expense amounts and descriptions, and receipt images you upload. We also collect technical data such as your IP address, browser type, and device information for security and performance purposes, and we record how the app is used — which pages you open and which buttons and links you tap — through our product analytics service (see “Cookies and Analytics” below). If you delete your account, you may optionally tell us why; that note is kept with our analytics. If you order a Child Expense Statement, the receipts and records you send us — which may include your children's names and medical or school costs — are used only to prepare that statement and are deleted 30 days after delivery, unless you choose to keep them in your CoParentSplit account.
We use your information to provide the CoParentSplit service: tracking expenses, calculating balances, generating reports, and facilitating communication between co-parents in the same family. We also use your email to send account-related communications such as magic link sign-ins, monthly reports, and important service updates.
We do not sell your personal data. Your expense and family data is shared only with your linked co-parent within the app. We use the following third-party services to operate: Supabase (database and authentication), Stripe (payment processing), Vercel (hosting), Resend (email delivery), PostHog (product analytics), and Sentry (error reporting). Each processes data only as needed to provide their service. These providers store and process your data outside Québec, mainly in the United States.
Your data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest. We use row-level security policies to ensure you can only access your own family's data. Payment information is handled entirely by Stripe and never touches our servers.
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal or regulatory purposes. Our analytics records are linked only to an internal account ID, not to your name or email address; once your account is deleted, that ID no longer points to you.
You have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data at any time. You can export your expense data from the app. To request data deletion or have questions about your data, contact us at privacy@coparentsplit.com.
We use essential cookies to keep you signed in. We also use PostHog, a product analytics service hosted in the United States, to understand how CoParentSplit is used so we can improve it. PostHog stores a first-party identifier in a cookie and in your browser's local storage, and records the pages you open and the buttons and links you tap, including their visible text. It does not record your screen or what you type into forms.
We do not use advertising cookies, and we do not sell or share analytics data with advertisers or data brokers. If your browser sends a “Do Not Track” signal, we do not collect analytics at all. You can also ask us to delete your analytics data by writing to privacy@coparentsplit.com.
On your first visit we also keep a short note in your browser's local storage: the website that sent you here (for example, a search engine), the first page you opened, and any campaign tags in that link. It stays in your browser unless you ask for our free spreadsheet, sign up for our emails or create an account; then it is stored with your email address or your account so we know which articles, videos and links help parents find us. We do not keep this note when your browser sends “Do Not Track”.
CoParentSplit is designed for adult co-parents. We store children's names and birth years only to help parents categorize expenses. We do not collect information directly from children.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by email or within the app. Continued use of CoParentSplit after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
